Gus Paul
Staff Accountant

Gus joined Team Feniks in 2023 while immersed in his educational journey at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). He finished his Master’s in 2025 and sees Feniks & Company as a place to stay. He’s from Fairbanks and loves it here. Gus tends to be modest about his achievements, and values giving active help and support to people on their journeys.

Gus understands accounting as another way to help people, and he enjoys its technical and ever-changing qualities. He likes the intensity of each tax season with its challenges and associated satisfaction in doing good work. He enjoys the camaraderie of Team Feniks, genuine friendship in the context of office professionalism. He loves people and is known to have strong people skills and is good at building relationships, which makes Feniks & Company a natural fit. He can read a crowd, enjoys good humor, is able to meet and get to know people easily, and values human interaction.

Gus’s interests outside the office include gardening, automotive mechanics, and all things mechanical, especially when they pertain to automotive repair, maintenance, and modification.. To obtain an inexpensive car in college, he replaced the engine in a 2007 Subaru Legacy. He is involved in several investment projects around town. He is the chair of his service area road commission, and he serves as treasurer for the Alaska Native Plant Society. Mort is Gus’s owner. Mort rules with an iron yip and runs the show around Gus.

His favorite books in the Feniks 15 includes The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor. “I think it reminded me about what is important in terms of Mindset and what actually makes us happy.”
I’m surrounded by smart people with colorful interests.
I can be myself here. I haven’t sacrificed anything from a personal development standpoint to live and work in Fairbanks at Feniks & Company.
Be yourself.”
